In July 2013 we decided to look for a private speech therapist. We wanted someone who could help our daughter, with certain speech difficulties that she was having at the time. I found Emma’s details on line and contacted her. Emma spent a great deal of time with me on the phone explaining her experience and areas of expertise. Also ways that she may be able to help our daughter, with her speech clarity.
We arranged a meeting between our daughter and Emma for an initial assessment to determine the actual problem. I was a little apprehensive as our daughter was, (at the time) quite shy, and had been reluctant to open up to the NHS speech therapist that we had been seeing. I needn’t have worried, as from the start Emma’s approach was fantastic, she really engaged our daughter and was very patient, making the assessment as fun as she could. At the end of this initial assessment we decided to embark on a programme for our daughter, which we hoped would in time lead to her problem areas of speech clarity being resolved. I am extremely happy to say that only nine months later our daughter has made such great progress that she no longer needs to see a speech therapist and has been discharged from both Emma and the NHS. We firmly believe that it was a combination of both Emma’s sessions and work done at home that has led to this great outcome. Emma made every session fun and really tapped into our daughter’s personality. We cannot thank Emma enough and would highly recommend her if you are looking for someone who is one hundred percent professional, extremely knowledgeable in her field and really cares about the child she is helping. One course of sessions with Emma transformed my son’s speech completely. Even after just a couple of sessions, his grandparents commented that it was easier to understand my son on the telephone.
Emma is a perfect blend of fun, friendliness, clarity and calm. She kept my son focused without him realising it and he looked forward to his session each week - he couldn’t wait to see Emma. My son had just started phonics at school and Emma’s sessions really helped him to be on a par with other children. We were nervous about the sessions and didn’t want our son to feel he was doing something wrong. However Emma explained everything that was happening to him so well that this fear was unfounded. Emma’s first assessment and her subsequent feedback and tips for us as parents were brilliant. I could understand what was going wrong with my son’s speech, why that was and how to help. I am so grateful for everything that she did to help our whole family. |

Speech therapy with Emma was the best thing we could have done for our son. When our son was 3 we were very concerned over his limited speech, he was unable to say lots of sounds and was becoming increasingly frustrated with his inability to communicate. We spoke to Emma who agreed to meet him.
After listening to our concerns and getting to know our son she assessed him and found that his speech was a whole year developmentally behind. He then spent the next 2 years having weekly speech therapy sessions with Emma. During these sessions Emma provided therapy that was tailored specifically to his needs, she always did this in an enjoyable and fun way. Also, the reassurance and advice she gave us allowed us to be more confident in helping him at home with resources that were provided by Emma. We believe that it is primarily due to Emma's help that our son improved from being virtually incomprehensible to speaking clearly and confidently. Our son has now started school and is thriving, he has made lots of new friends and within 6 weeks he was signed off from speech and language by the NHS. We will always be eternally grateful to Emma for all the help and support she gave our son and family. We would highly recommend Emma to other families seeking high quality expert speech therapy. At 3 years old my son was diagnosed with a severe sound disorder; even I found it extremely difficult to understand what he was trying to say and he was beginning to get upset when he could not communicate. I was very nervous at the prospect of him starting to school without being able to socialise effectively so felt that it was absolutely vital to do what we could to help him. Luckily we found Emma. Having conducted the initial assessment, which was well explained, she very quickly established a rapport with my son and worked out how he responded, what he enjoyed and how to put together a programme.
It felt like a large mountain with so many letters and concepts needing work but even within a few weeks we could see progress. Emma explained clearly throughout what she was doing and why, and what we needed to do in support. The sessions were kept fun and engaging and a Emma always responded flexibly ensuring that my son was interested and confident. He has now started school and is considered to be age appropriate in his speech, an enormous achievement in a relatively limited amount of time, which I am absolutely sure would not have been possible, or anywhere near possible, without Emma’s help. My son had speech dificiulties after having glue ear and lots of ear infections. We didn't get much luck with NHS so we decided to look for a private therapist.
After a long time searching I came across Emma who I contacted via E-mail. We arranged for her to come and meet myself and my son and see if there was anything she could help with. Emma was brilliant, she was very thorough with her assessments, she made all the sessions fun. My son really engaged with her and she knew exactly how to get the most out of him. She gave us things to work on at home and knew when we needed to have breaks from sessions. She also went above and beyond, if it wasn't for Emma my son would never have been diagnosed with Auditory Process disorder and we would never have got the help and support my son needed. I can not recommend Emma enough, she is very professional, very knowledgeable and she interacts with children brilliantly. Emma was recommended by a friend to work with our ~2 year old son who had delayed speech. Emma was able to quickly build a rapport with our son, and over the course of approx 6 months, we were able to see huge progress with his sound-making and speech and consequently his confidence. I'd absolutely recommend Emma for anyone needing support with their child's speech.
